2nd Annual Youth Violence Awareness Summit
The Second Annual Youth Violence Awareness Summit was a total success! Christopher "Play" Martin and Cheryl "Salt" Wray did not disappoint the packed audience who came to get some inspiration. Martin and Wray spoke about making smart choices and staying out of gangs. They also stressed the importance of finishing school and getting a college education.
At the end of the summit the audience was able to ask questions directly to the duo. They fielded questions on everything from recording contracts to becoming better role models. A free autograph and picture also followed the event. Also featured at the event were Sheriff Carey Winders and Det. R. L. Benton of the North Carolina Gang Investigators Association. Here are a few pictures from the event.

Youth Violence Awareness Summit 2007
We had a very exciting and information packed
Summit on September 29, 2007. Over 850 participants converged on
Goldsboro
High School to be educated on ways to stop youth and gang violence. Special recognition is extended to
Goldsboro
High School for the use of the facility and to Ms. Patricia Burden for working so diligently with Smart Choices for Youth, Inc. to help improve the lives of the youth.
I personally want to thank Christopher “Play” Martin, Rev. Dr. W. Wilson Goode, Sr. from the Amachi Program and all of the panels and presenters who helped to make September 29, 2007 a success.
Smart Choices for Youth, Inc. would also like to thank co-sponsor Wayne County Schools for their hard work and tireless dedication to helping our youth. And to our faith partners, thank you for your help and support. The best is yet to come!
I look forward to our next summit. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our youth.
